What are your Mondays like? My Mondays usually start EARLY. My sweet son is my alarm clock. He comes running into my room every morning with something important to tell me, like “Mom, my car needs batteries!” Or “I need help building the bridge for my train!” Very, very pressing matters for 5:45 in the morning.
My Mondays are my catch-up days – from house cleaning and laundry, to meal planning and phone calls. It is the day I stay-at-home. While most people get all that done over the weekend, our weekends are just too busy to tackle those tasks. So here I am this morning – planning tools in front of me, plus the necessary cup of coffee and a little light reading for inspiration. 🙂
While I get some things done, I let my kids play out in the backyard or allow them to have some TV time. I usually plan a week full of events so Mondays are a chill-out kind of day. As you can see, the TV show of choice this morning is Octonauts. My youngest has no interest in TV yet, obviously.
Even though I typically have a ton to get done, I always try to take some breaks to play with my kiddos. It’s amazing how a couple of hours can go by and I realize that I haven’t fully engaged with my kids. Sure I may have given them a snack and a hug or turned on their favorite show, but that’s completely different than actually playing WITH them. This morning we played a little Candy Land! (By the way, this game is great for 3 and 4 year-olds to learn how board games work, count spaces, and recognize colors. Bonus!)
I guess it’s time for me to start cleaning… What are you going to do with your Monday?
